Marketing & Advertising
The University Union is a prime location for promoting your event or service on campus. The Union has more than 16,000 visitors every day and serves a campus population of more than two million each year. In addition, more than 800 free events happen all year long.
Please see the information below regarding policies and procedures for promoting your on-campus event or service to our student population.
Bulletin Boards
Two locations are available for on-campus organizations to post information about upcoming events or services. Location A is on the second level across from Design Works, and Location B is on level two outside of the post office and the exit. All organizations must have stamped approval from the Info Desk (level 3) before advertising. Any advertisements that are not stamped will be promptly removed.
Section 7 of the Union House Guidelines States:
Posters or decorations are prohibited on facility surfaces including walls, posts, windows, doors, walks, fountains or planters.
All materials to be posted on the bulletin board located on the second (2) level, across from Design Works, must have prior approval by the Information Center.
An open bulletin board is provided on level two at the postal center entrance. All materials are to be removed at the beginning of each month.
Any written material that is not in English must have an English translation adjacent that has been approved by the International Studies and Programs.
The Union reserves the right to remove any material that is considered inappropriate (unsuitable use of language and/or graphics) or does not follow these guidelines.

Table Tents
Table tents may be scheduled through the Union marketing office, email union@unt.edu. All requests must be submitted no later than two weeks prior to the event. In addition, all reservations must be made in one week increments for a maximum of two weeks. The Union is not responsible for missing table tents. Distribution and replacement are the responsibility of the event sponsor. Table tents may only be placed in approved areas within the University Union. The use of adhesive is prohibited. Any damaged table tents will be destroyed.

Interactive Media Network
The Network is a full-color, digital event promotions and media system available in the University Union at the University of North Texas Denton campus for on-campus clubs and departments.
The Network advertisements run on 10, 42-inch LCD screen monitors strategically located throughout the Union. Each advertisement runs for 12 seconds in a queue, playing once every three to five minutes.
Advertisements May Be Accepted From the Following:
- University Union Programs and Services
- Departments housed within the University Union
- University-registered and recognized student organizations and clubs
- Administrative and Academic Departments within the University
The Union Interactive Media Network may display up to 15 slides per rotation cycle. No one group may request more than three (3) slides to display in rotation concurrently.
If space becomes limited, priority will be given to event promotions in the following order:
- Facility-related announcements (ie. power outages, closures, changes in hours)
- University Union Programs and Services
- University-Registered and Recognized Student Organizations and Clubs
- Departments within the University Union
- Administrative and Academic Departments within the University
Accepted Event Promotions
- No promotions will be rejected on the premises of content, however, they must adhere to the house guidelines that have been set for other University Union media policies. These include:
- Advertisements for events must be open to the entire campus community. Events that are restrictive of membership, such as rush and membership drives, are not permitted. However, they may advertise these events as a group through their respective government bodies.
- Advertise products or services that are in violation of the University Union no-compete contracts.
- Events must be of student interest or student-oriented in nature.
- The Union Marketing Coordinator and the Director of Student Activities and the University Union reserve the rights to:
- Reject advertisements
- Alter broadcast times and rotations
- Suggest edits for space limitations, content clarity, aesthetics, in the interest of good broadcasting practices and taste, and in line with the policies of the University Union and the University of North Texas.
- Deny advertisements which compete with Union or University services and businesses.
- Emergency messages will be accepted by phone, fax or email at any time, and are subject to approval by the Union Marketing Coordinator and the Director of Activities and University Union.
- The Union Interactive Media Network service operates during the University Union building hours, including nights and weekends.
- The Network is updated regularly; in the event of an emergency announcement, daily updates will be provided.
- General campus announcements may run on an indefinite basis, subject to content reviewed on a weekly basis.
- Cost of advertisements is non-negotiable.
- If the University Union is unable to run a reserved advertisement because of technical or other problem, the client will not be charged.
- Advertisements will appear on all digital screens.
Exterior Ground Signage (Lawn Signs)
Lawnsigns are permitted in any grassy area surrounding the University Union. Lawnsigns are prohibited in flower beds, inside of the Union, or in areas that may block or interfere with traffic. The Union is not responsible for lost or stolen lawnsigns. Groups and event sponsors are responsible for removing the lawnsigns after the event has taken place.
